Dongman Lee is a pioneering researcher in IoT edge computing, whose groundbreaking work has shaped the evolution of mobile cloud systems. As early as 2010, he introduced the concept of a virtual cloud computing provider for mobile devices, laying the foundation for distributed intelligence in urban IoT environments. His contributions have been instrumental in bridging the gap between theoretical research and real-world applications of distributed networks and pervasive computing.
Dongman Lee earned his BS in Computer Engineering from Seoul National University in 1982, followed by an MS and Ph.D. in Computer Science from KAIST in 1984 and 1987, respectively. His career spans influential roles, including nearly a decade at Hewlett-Packard as a Technical Contributor and professorships at Information and Communications University (ICU) and KAIST, where he continues to drive innovation. Recognized for his contributions to the advancement of the Korean Internet, he received the Prime Minister Award in 2000 and the Internet Technical Achievement Award at KRNet07 in 2007.
Beyond academia, he is a founding member of the Future Internet Forum (FIF) and AsiaFI, fostering collaboration in next-generation networking. His extensive involvement in global research communities is reflected in his service as a technical program committee (TPC) member for numerous international conferences, as a reviewer for leading journals and magazines, and a senior member of ACM and an active participant in IEEE and KISS.
